Nokia Corp (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) is trying its luck again to make its mark in the smartphone industry amid a constant surge in competition. The tech titan’s much-anticipated Android smartphone was unveiled earlier this month. Now, it has been reported that HMD Global, the Finnish company that has manufactured Nokia’s upcoming smartphone, is planning to introduce another Nokia-branded smartphone. Also, HMD is teasing its consumers as several reports indicate that the company is planning to launch an event on February 26, with potential announcements.
The news has ignited excitement among Nokia loyalists still waiting for the company to launch a decent Android smartphone. Also, it is worth mentioning that Nokia announced on its Facebook page that Nokia 6 was coming to China with “more announcements to follow on February 26.” Even though the fallen smartphone giant did not specifically say that it was going to launch an Android smartphone on Feb 26, it is highly likely that the company will introduce one considering the importance of the Mobile World Conference (MWC).
The recent moves made by Nokia indicate that it is once again serious towards achieving its market ventures in the smartphone industry. However, experts believe that Nokia has to come up with new and innovative features to compete against the likes of tech giants like Apple and Samsung and to survive in the smartphone industry. Nokia 6 is a mid-range device, with some appeal, but certainly not enough to win back the loyalty of its lost fans.
In any case, we will be keeping a track on the company’s upcoming announcements to keep our readers updated.
