While AMAT is expected to report for the second quarter of the fiscal year 2017 (2QFY17), ADSK is predicted to present 1QFY18 financials. Regardless of their previous slightly disappointing performances, the analysts expect Applied Materials and Autodesk to outperform consensus expectations on the top and bottom lines this quarter.
Applied Materials, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMAT) anticipates its earnings per share (EPS) to clock in at $0.72-0.80. In this regard, Wall Street analyst and Earningswhispers.com anticipate EPS to be toward the higher end of the guidance and come in at $0.76 and $0.77, respectively. The consensus forecast is not only likely to result in 123.53% year-over-year (YoY) earnings increase, but would also expand Applied Materials bottom line by 13.4% sequentially.
For 2QFY17, Applied Materials and Wall Street analyst forecast $3.45-3.60 billion and $3.55 billion revenues respectively. In contrast, Estimize.com expects revenues to remain higher than the consensus estimate, at $3.56 billion. It also implies that revenues would be higher than the $46.95 billion company’s 2QFY16 and 1QFY17 net sales of $2.5 billion and $3.3 billion, respectively.
Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADSK) loss per share (LPS) guidance stands at 21-27 cents. While Wall Street analysts expect Autodesk to post lower LPS of 23 cents, they anticipate deterioration slightly from 1QFY17 LPS of 15 cents. On the other hand, Earningswhispers.com predicts LPS to be further lower at 22 cents this season, which marks a considerable improvement from Autodesk's 4QFY17 LPS of 41 cents.
Autodesk also looks forward to $460-480 million revenues for the quarter ended March 31. However, for the same period, Estimize.com and Street analysts model Autodesk's revenues at $474.47 million and $472.37 million respectively. In comparison, the $21.01 billion company’s 4QFY17 and 1QFY17 net sales amounted to $478.8 million and $511.9 million respectively.
