This summer, we will see the most major update to Pokémon GO since the release of the game. The updates will be released in phases through the remainder of the year. So what exactly will this update entail? Read on to find out.
The first mechanism which the update will tackle is the gym upgrades. The gym system, which is currently in place, was meant as a placeholder. It is believed that the gym battle system wasn’t intended to stay this way forever, and this update will bring some significant changes to the entire mechanism, with a large focus on team mechanics. The new update is expected to allow multiple users battling in a gym at the same time, to make the battles more exciting since players are collaborating.
One of the features requested by a myriad of players is Pokémon Trading. It is said to be in the works, but it’ll be tricky business integrating it into the game. Numerous MMORPGs have been damaged by introducing trading/ in-game currencies, so Niantic needs to handle the matter very delicately.
While the last one isn’t highly likely to happen, it’s still worth mentioning. According to an anonymous tipster - when Pokémon trading arrives at the game - it will require a yet-to-be-released Nintendo phone to be accessible. It could happen, but the idea seems rather far-fetched.
These are some significant changes, and if even the first two make the cut, the game’s entire mechanics will be shifted. So, what do you think about these changes? Please let us know in the comments below.
