Microsoft Corporation (MSFT): Microsoft to Showcase Autonomous Driving Innovation Along with Partners

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is expected to put forth a highly autonomous driving demonstration in collaboration with its automobility partners. Microsoft is currently working on an autonomous driving project in partnership with NXP Semiconductors, IAV, Esri, Swiss Re, and Cubic Telecom. SeekingAlpha expects Microsoft to put up a strong show in the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show. The Consumer Electronics Show 2017 is going to be held in Las Vegas from January 04 till 08.  

The attendees of the consumer electronics show will be able to enjoy a test drive in a highly autonomous vehicle. The test drive will be sponsored by Microsoft and is an attempt to show the consumers the level of autonomy the company has been able to achieve in the field of autonomous driving. SeekingAlpha analyst believes that these demonstrations will help Microsoft in delivering its vision to the public and establish the importance of artificial intelligence and cloud analytics in the context of vehicle automation and driver safety. The cars will also be able to communicate with each other to intelligently plan their path and at the same time, monitor their environments for enhanced safety. Furthermore, the car will be capable of running real time analysis on the data provided by onboard sensors, which include, LIDAR, camera, V2X, and radar.  

Apart from safety, Microsoft also plans to give drivers a personalized in-car experience tailored according to their preferences. Corporate Vice President of Business Development at Microsoft, Mr. Kevin Dallas commented that Microsoft sees CES 2017 as an opportunity to showcase the potential of Artificial Intelligence and Analytic Capabilities in autonomous vehicle systems.  

The analyst ratings for Microsoft are 12 Buy, 14 Outperform, eight Hold, and two Sell. The stock closed at a price of $62.14 on Friday.
